Serving the Community
New Washer and Dryer Sept 2020
One of the main functions of the Opportunity Center is to allow members a place to wash cloths. They wash 20-30 standard loads per day. The old washer and dryers were not able to keep up with the demand and they were requiring continued maintenance to keep them working. We worked to purchase a commercial washer and dryer.
New Cots Ongoing
The Opportunity center is used for members to sleep there for the nights that are below 40 degrees. The old cots were breaking and not comfortable for the members. Merit Health was gracious enough to donate 20 cots to replace the ones that were in the worse shape. We would also like to thank Mark and Jodie Burrell for donating additional cots.
If you would like to donate additional cots we are able to provide type and location to purchase.
Chicken Coop Project Nov 2020
The Opportunity Center has multiple chickens that provides eggs for the center, as well as giving the members activities caring for the chickens. The old coop had deteriorated to a point where it was not usable. We built a new one large enough to house all of their chickens.
Special thanks to John Ramsey II and Adlyn Till for help in the construction and Tan Do, Brian Howell, and Niven Walker helping with the delivery.
Sunday Meal Dec 2020
Thanks to Tan and Jen Do for allowing us to help with food distribution. We were able to distribute 60 meals to residents who do not have access to food.
They work with Why Not Now of Mississippi that helps in the Jackson area.

Heater project Jan 2021
Thank you to Brice Till and Susan Hale for enclosing the carport area to provide warmth and protection from the weather. Big shout out to Mr. Charlie and Blue at the Opportunity center for their assistance in completing the project. Also, a huge thank you to David Norman for running the electrical and installing the heater.
